Trade.xyz Distributes SK Hynix Compensation After 19% Mark-Price Drop

Trade.xyz has distributed USDC compensation to traders liquidated during the July 27 pricing disruption in its SK Hynix perpetual market.

Each eligible liquidation was recalculated against a $1,115.50 reference price, the platform confirmed in its compensation notice. Traders owed less than 10,000 USDC received the full amount automatically, without needing to submit a claim.

Eligible claims above 10,000 USDC received an initial 9,999 USDC payment. Those traders must contact Trade.xyz support and complete additional due diligence before August 15 to receive the remaining balance. The platform has not disclosed the total compensation distributed or the number of qualifying accounts.

External Trade Sent Mark Price Down 18.7%

The SK Hynix contract’s mark price dropped from $1,127.90 to $917.25 at 23:01 UTC on July 27, an 18.7% move that forced leveraged long positions below their maintenance-margin requirements.

The price originated from an executed transaction on a thin South Korean pre-market venue and was relayed by multiple independent data providers. Trade.xyz’s oracle was tracking the external venue and processed the transaction under its existing pricing specifications, with no evidence that its contracts were exploited or that the price feed was manipulated.

The external print moved through the oracle before deeper liquidity restored the underlying market price. Mark prices determine unrealized profit, margin requirements and liquidation levels, allowing a short-lived external transaction to close positions even when the perpetual’s own order book has not traded at the same level.

Trade.xyz Reviews Oracle Pricing Model

Trade.xyz described the reimbursements as a one-time discretionary measure rather than a guarantee that traders will be compensated during future market disruptions.

The platform is reviewing its reliance on external venues and may give more weight to price formation on its own order books during extreme moves. Trade.xyz said those markets now carry sufficient depth to provide a meaningful pricing signal alongside traditional exchanges.

Trade.xyz operates the market through Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 framework, which allows external deployers to launch perpetual contracts and manage their asset-specific oracle inputs. The incident arrived as Hyperliquid reached a record 8.3% share of global perpetual open interest and Trade.xyz expanded equity-linked derivatives such as its SpaceX pre-IPO perpetual market.

SK Hynix Volatility Extends Into Onchain Markets

The pricing event preceded another sharp decline in South Korean semiconductor stocks, with SK Hynix later falling during the KOSPI’s leveraged chip-market unwind. The stock subsequently rebounded more than 24% as the KOSPI surged about 15% following Korea’s new strategic investment plan.

Eligible traders with remaining compensation above 9,999 USDC must complete Trade.xyz’s review process by August 15.
